8 Reasons Why You Should Share Your Testimony (What’s The Point?)

Last year, God kept dropping the number 8 in my spirit. At first, I didn’t think much of it… but then a woman on Instagram discovered my podcast page and commented on her studies in biblical numerology.

I launched Dressed for Battle Podcast on 8/8/18 because it seemed like a “cute” and memorable date. Little did I know, the number 8 biblically symbolize new beginnings.

When I found out, I was like “Whoa” – particularly because my verse of last year was Isaiah 43:19:

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

After experiencing a dark season in 2017, I began to really believe and feel God was getting ready to do a new thing in my life.

Your Budget-Friendly Dress to Impress Guide

I won “Most Likely to be on the Cover of Vogue” in high school. I haven’t yet graced the pages but I’ve never stopped dressing up as if I was!

I’ve mentioned before that I used to be super shy in school so it was always important to have my style do the talking for me. I began to really come out of my shell my senior year and by the time college and graduate school came around, my attitude was like, “hello world!”

Oh, and online classes were a blessing in graduate school for so many reasons but I would still sign in with a beat face and epic pajamas!

I’m a full believer in dressing up to conquer your day and so I’m here to drop some tips on how to dress to impress wherever you are. So yes, if you’re not in school, these tips can still apply to you! Life is full of lessons so we never really stop learning, do we?

Join me on a fun trip down memory lane with H&M’s 90s collection. You’ll find something to take your closet to the next level with their fashionable pieces and budget-friendly prices.

5 Things To Do When You’re Waiting for God To Move (Advice for Dry Seasons)

There’s a season for everything.

Right now, mine is one that’s an overwhelming and exhausting marathon. As I prepare for launching my first book, I’m also working on my second while simultaneously trying to maintain my social media presence, write consistently on my blog, post YouTube videos, interview and edit for my podcast, and write my biweekly newsletters.

Needless to say, it’s been exasperating trying to “keep up.” Things have settled down some since I solidified my schedule but it’s still difficult to keep going when it isn’t the season to see the fruits of my labor. I understand that but it still, such a weird place.

Especially because just a few months ago, I was doing even more! I went from traveling to different countries and cities for Teen Vogue to staying at home and working on the assignments and projects God gave to me.

Everything feels so still.

And quite frankly, I am completely over it. I want out!

50+ Songs About God’s Love – The Ultimate Playlist!

Recently, as I was scrolling on Instagram, I came across a preview to an official music video posted by Grammy-nominated Christian artist, Jamie Grace. She invited her followers to check out her official music video for “Bella” which shared her beautiful journey from marriage to giving birth to her daughter.

Of course, I had to watch!

Asides from the screaming and changing diapers, I’m a complete sap when it comes to babies — particularly, baby girls. (They’re so fun to dress up, don’t you think?)

The sweet song slips into different languages and serenely captures how God calls us each His own. As I watched the new parents coo over their precious bundle of joy, I caught a sneak peek of what our Heavenly Father must feel as He holds us in His arms.

I couldn’t help but think of how God gushes over us, and sings to us a new song.

5 Easy Tips To Dress Modest with Style

My parents didn’t want me pursuing fashion. They had nothing against it. In fact, they are very much into dressing up and styling classic designer pieces. However, they are Carribean…which means: the best profession for their child is in the sphere of medicine or law. You know, something stable. Something safe.

I completely understood. However, there was no way a right-brainer like me would or could ever land in those professions.

They understood this, too.

5 Thrifting Tips for Christian Girls (+Try On Haul!)

My sisters and I used to groan every Saturday before church. They were loud, audible ones meant for our parents to hear from their bedrooms.

We had the “typical” issue: not having a clue what to wear.

One side of ours closets were extremely dressy with “church clothes” and the other side were “school clothes.” We wanted more options, options that served more than one purpose. Plus, we were so over the whole dress to impress shebang. We wanted to slay, of course, but we wanted to do it our way. Not to say our styles weren’t our own — they were. We just wanted out of the shmancy dress culture.

Thrifting was a saving grace. Okay, I’m being dramatic. We’ve only been a few times. We were introduced a couple of years ago and the thrifting world welcomed us into the land of mixing modern quality and vintage. Skirts and blazers and jumpsuits galore.

Sunday’s best traditionally means going all out in your best suit or dress and fancy heels but I’m here to show you, thrifting is a viable option to take on an unique, fashion-forward look for church.

Every Digital Creative Needs These Trendy Computer Glasses

You wake up and you check Instagram. You’re on your way to work and you answer some text messages. You work from home and you stare at your computer screen all day. You watch your favorite show and you are live tweeting the whole time. And at the slow moments of the Netflix series you are binging, you scroll through social media.

Our eyes just can’t seem to catch a break. It’s working double duty and paying a hefty price from all that blue light.

As a fashion freelance writer and business owner, I spend ample amount of time on my computer. And now that I have books to write, that time has amplified. (If you missed it, I talk about how I landed a three book deal as a first time author here.)

While working on my first book, I would get splitting migraines. I started to feel pains in my body and fatigue and knew something had to be done. I tried hydrating. Didn’t work. Attempted to sleep more. Didn’t work.

This is The Kind of Love That Lasts Forever | The Hunt For True Love

Humankind enjoys treasure hunts.

Since childhood, we’re taught to find the perfect pieces to put the cardboard puzzle together. As we mature, we attempt to do this with our hearts. We live in constant pursuit of the part that fits, knowing that there is more to life. That there is something missing.

And there is.

We know there is more because God created us with the desire for eternity.

Ecclesiates 3:11 says, He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

So you see, there isn’t a problem with you. The void you have is intentional; it can only be filled with something bigger and it’s up to you to choose. Some select relationships, money, work or themselves. But would you rather ram the obtuse piece into your heart, twisting and turning it, forcing it to fit? Or, would you want to fill it with what it was actually meant for?

When we tell stories of salvation, we say “we found God” but you can’t say you found “something” that was always made known to you. The best kind of love was always in plain sight. God pours it out on you everyday and He sent His son to die on the cross of calvary for our sins, just to show you the depth of it all (John 3:16).

Love Like Jesus

1 John 3:16 The Passion Translation (TPT)

This is how we have discovered love’s reality: Jesus sacrificed his life for us. Because of this great love, we should be willing to lay down our lives for one another.

Light shines in darkness, doesn’t it?

At the Last Supper, Jesus broke bread with His closest friends for the very last time and gave one more commandment. “Love one another” (John 13:34). It was the darkest day of his life and even with a traitor in his midst, He loved anyway. ISN’T THAT CRAZY?

Every Good Friday, my heart breaks on a new level. I’m taken to a somber place — a place where I remember the agony Christ endured in greater depth. I remember that in His final moments, He cried out, “FATHER take this cup from me,” and yet He still did it anyway.⁣ He exchanged His crown for the cross, all for the sake of us.

He sacrificed His life for the sins of the very people who spat, whipped and nailed him. He died for the people who don’t believe in Him today. He died for us all, even when we betray Him with our actions. Christ is our bridge; He is why we have new life here on earth and in heaven. Our sins are forgiven and we are so ridiculously loved.

We weren’t just commanded to love one another; Christ commanded us to love like HE loves us.

My prayer is for God to give us a heart like His. To be in the midst of the very ones who have plotted our downfall and still, love them anyway. We can sacrifice our thrones of pride and unforgiveness for the crown of life.

The Kind of Love That Lasts Forever

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We can freely celebrate because we accept Christ as our Savior. And now, nothing can separate us from His love.

So you see, a love that lasts forever is one that is sacrificial. It gives us second chances. It is without condition. It is the love of God.

Christ on the cross serves as a reminder that God can resurrect absolutely anything back to life. It is a reminder that through His wounds, we are healed. That, even when we go astray, He would still go to the cross for us over and over again. Regardless of what seems dead in our lives, we are reborn with a whole new meaning when we choose to follow Christ.
