I celebrated my 23rd birthday a few days ago and went all out.

To kick off my weekend, my cousin treated me to an amazing mani/pedi and the next evening, I had an intimate dinner with close family and friends. It was the perfect place for photos, you guys! Good eats, too. On the eve of my birthday, my brother took me out to dinner again at one of my favorite restaurants. We celebrated 12 am with a whole bunch of boomerangs and a scenic ride.

On my actual day, I woke up and spent some time with Jesus and treated myself to a facial and aromatherapy massage at a top spa. When I got back home, my mom had pizza waiting for me — my absolute favorite! And theeeen, my best friend took me to a Kari Jobe concert in the city!!! We got ice cream and took the train back to Jersey where my other best friend awaited me for some final celebratory dining!

It was so jam-packed; I didn’t even have time to really sit in the realization it was my birthday! I’m saying all this as a journal for myself but also to illustrate how you must celebrate your life! I’ve been sharing my experience about this struggle of a year, praying to inspire you to believe that the good, bad, and the ugly make for such an elaborate story demonstrating how God was working everything out for your good all along.

Just because this year was tough and didn’t go as planned does not mean it was not your year! God gives glimpses of His promises to you and you WILL shine from where you are. It won’t get any easier but that’s when you take that light and guard it with your whole being.

I had to do it — have to do it. I’m so blessed to see 23 and am living proof of God’s grace. He takes me out of darkness, He surrounds me with people who love and choose me every single day. He has allowed me to reign as Miss BLACK NJ 2018 and had it written in His plans and on His OWN time that I’d be writing digitally for my absolute favorite publication TEEN VOGUE!

Don’t sit in pain. Let it sink in and then move. And even then while it still hurts, keep going. Remain faithful. And don’t you dare EVER allow heartbreak and hard times keep you from living your best life. Go in for yourself. YOU DESERVE IT.

Life gets hard. You will feel attacked. Alone. Agitated. But you can combat it with the most sufficient weapon: God’s Word.

I really wanted to take some time out to pray over and create a list of affirmations we can all declare over our lives. No matter what you are going through, there is an answer awaiting you in the Bible. In spending time with God and paying close attention to His voice, you’ll find constant renewal and a peace you can’t even explain. You will see for yourself the ways in which the Bible is our ultimate weapon for fulfillment, comfort and assurance. God has whispered in our hearts so many promises but we don’t know a lot of them because we don’t tap in through His Word — the primary way He speaks to us! There is power in speaking the Book of Life over your own. It’s time we declare the victory that is already ours.

And now, here are 25 affirmations you need to be telling yourself as you go throughout your day. It doesn’t matter if you’re spiritually weak or strong – realize the enemy is actively strategizing in stealing your joy so you must actively strategize in speaking God’s promises all up in the atmosphere and against his plans.

Affirmations for Every Woman of God

  1. I am a daughter of the King. (Genesis 1:27 – So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.)

  2. I am more than enough. (Psalm 139:14 – I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.)

  3. I have purpose, I am fulfilled, I am unashamed. (Matthew 5:13-16 – You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world–like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.)

  4. I am not who I once was. I am forgiven. (2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.)

  5. I am always on God’s mind. (Psalm 139:13 – You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother’s womb.)

  14. I will not lean on my own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.)

  15. I have everything I need. (2 Peter 1:3 – God’s divine power has given us everything we need for life and for godliness. This power was given to us through knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and integrity.)

There are no laws against things like that.)

  18. My worth is immeasurable. (Proverbs 31:10 – Who can find a worthy woman? For her price is far above rubies.)

  19. Fear does not hold me captive. (2 Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.)
