I’ve never been a people pleaser so it has always been easy for me to go about my business. To…ya know, do me regardless of what people’s opinions were. I accepted the notion “everyone won’t always like you” early.
This aspect of myself has only continued to blossom. I’ve always been conscious of who I was/am in Christ and representing Him in the best ways possible. So nowadays, if an issue arises, I respond right when I was wronged. Or, if I hurt anyone, I apologize. Simple. Pride isn’t necessary. A petty remark isn’t worth compromising my character in Christ.
Our craziest snowstorm of the season just had to be on the first day of Fashion Week, right? I remember looking out the window and seeing crazy flurries and rising snow all over. My family and friends asked me, “You sure Fashion Week isn’t cancelled?” I had to laugh but I so was dreading going out in that weather!
Do you guys remember when social media went crazy trying to figure out if that “the dress” was white and gold or blue and black? I went through the same thing while wearing this dress. Is it a red dress or is it orange? To me, it’s clearly red…just with an orange tint lol.
Perception is everything, they say. In this case, I must agree. Since we’re talking all about love this month on Adorned in Armor (be sure to catch up on this post and this one, too), I find it a must to discuss how we walk in love.
Valentine’s Day Lookbook: find it here, beautiful people!

Hey people, Medge here! I hope you all have been achieving all your girl boss goals. While you’re getting work done, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Get your hair done, go to your favorite restaurants — feel the love! That journey starts with you.
My favoriting way to clear my mind is to watch movies, especially romantic films. I get all into the theatrics and drama of every break up and make up. In reality though, I understand that I don’t have to begin relationships with everyone knowing my business or end them with guns a-blazing.
Self-care has been one of the most blatant topics of conversation in our society lately. It’s all about making sure your mental health is given serious attention, indulging in the things that make you happy, and appreciating who you are…especially in the state of this crazy country of ours.
Inevitably, when one considers self-care, self-love isn’t too far off. Because why take care of yourself if you don’t love yourself? Why work out, take bubble baths, or have that one cheat meal if you don’t love yourself?
That is the one simple message I’ve been compelled to share with you all today. I know it’s difficult and the strain may pain you but do not get discouraged! Your patience, resilience, perseverance will be rewarded.
My favorite part of my makeup routine is tending to my eyes. I play on my almond shape with black eyeliner to create the perfect cat eye (when God permits haha). I add neutrals and golds shadow to pronounce my dark brown hue. And I take my time to accentuate my lashes with mascara because that’s my favorite part! Even on days I barely have anything on, mascara remains my go-to in order to come alive.
The same way you dress your body in stylish layers of comfortable clothing every winter is the same way you should be cleansing, lathering and dousing your skin with care every winter! There are layers to this skincare thang. As WOC, it’s imperative we take care of our skin, especially in the dry, brittle season.
