As a Haitian-American, I have a special (and warm) place in my heart for the Caribbean. The cold weather here in Jersey has yet to hit it’s lowest temperature and I’m already over it. Sun, come to meeeee!
2016 has been surreal from biting revelations to even harsher winds and I can’t imagine a better remedy than going on vacation. Not just any vacation, but Caribbean luxury vacations. (This is where you say “oooooooh” with hearts in your eyes.)
I find inspiration everywhere, especially when it comes to clothes. You know me, I like connecting the smallest things to real life situations. But when I looked at my outfit after I shot these looks, I had no idea what I was going to talk to you guys about.
Until I saw that pretty much everything I was wearing was fast fashion. It was quite a discovery haha. There’s nothing wrong with that, trust me. I love my luxury and fast retailers just the same. However, I just found it interesting how the “fast fashion” notion came to mind. It was right on time.
Vibes — It’s the era we are living in. Want what is good and cut off all of the bad. Sounds like a good philosophy to me — we need supportive people around us.
Unfortunately, it’s quite possible that the star you thought you saw was actually an airplane. You see this aura and believe it’s filled with good and end up being misled. Sometimes, the people that shine so bright blind us from even considering the thought that they may be artificial.
One of my favorite places to visit (and shop — who am I kidding) during the holiday season is Macy’s. Yeah, they have great gift options but let’s talk about that decor, huh?! Those gigantic shiny, ruby-red ornaments that dangle from their cotton-skied ceilings stole my heart as a kid. Now, I appreciate the white and red insta-worthy sights even more so (#bloggerlife #aesthetics).
I’ve professed my hatred for the summer season many times but I do love the sun. Not when it’s scorching hot, but yeah, I love it. I actually have a thing for the sky in general. If you catch me on a walk, you’ll see me with my head cocked back and eyes wide, enthralled by the infinite masterpiece God painted.
Now that Daylight Savings have come upon us, I appreciate the extra hour (of sleep) but I’ll forever be dissatisfied with how little time we have to see the sun in all its glory.
“Red and yellow, black and white, we are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.”
My mother used to sing this to me all the time. My siblings and I even had a tape cassette and a book filled with the lyrics and children of all different ethnicities vibrantly displayed. They were smiling, they were all holding hands.
I know you’re grieved. Angered. Hurt. Disgruntled. Maybe even feeling betrayed. Plainly, you are heartbroken over the hate that permeates this country. And I encourage beseech you to feel it. Feel it all. You have all the right to feel any or all of those things — no permission necessary. Don’t lament that you feel this way in the first place.
