This fashion week has been my best fashion week experience hands down!
I was hired as the TRESemme Salon Booth Manager during it all!
Yayayayayay. That alone was a complete honor. My job basically consisted of standing pretty at our check-in desk! Okay, no, I had to do more than that, but it was super easy! My job was to hold down the booth – aye! I also gave away amazing selfie lights, free samples of products and set up appointments for top bloggers and fashion week guests. Celebs Karreuche Tran and Whoopi Goldberg came by on their way to the shows and were super chill. Queen Naomi Campbell sauntered by, but I missed her!
Each and every shift was enjoyable. Before or after each one, I’d venture out to the other booths to see what they had going on. There was one creating travel tags with your initials engraved on it, a VIP lounge for some major brands and the cutest stationary giveaways at Papyrus. Adjacent to my booth was E! YES, E! TRESemme apparently collaborates with them at fashion week. We shared a VIP space which entailed free drinks, rose gummies, and of course, a photo booth!
Working alongside their awesome crew was mind boggling honestly. During one of my shifts, I met Stacy, the winner of E! Network’s Style Contributor Contest and she was incredibly humble and extremely sweet. We bonded over hair, fashion and black girl magic!
For my third year, I worked with ESSENCE at their Street Style event, as well! I was super exhausted, especially because the repeated commute from my house into the city is no joke. But I kept my word and was so happy I did. Like, I seriously thanked God.
Not only did I work the air-conditioned VIP lounge in the 90 degree weather, but I had the opportunity to accommodate some of the biggest influencers. Kelly Rowland came to hang out. THEN, GUESS WHAT?!
I. MET. ZENDAYA.
YA KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE THAT GIRL.
If you missed all my videos and pictures on my Snapchat — shame on you! You can follow at tarah-lynn now, though.
Zendaya’s stylist, Luxury Law Roach, was the honoree of the Essence Street Style Awards and she was there to present the award to him. It was too cute! Afterwards, I spoke to him about how much his work intrigues me and keeps my eyes glued to the red carpet. He is seriously the sweetest man. Funny, too!
Additionally, I met Simone Biles (yes, she’s that tiny in person) and then the beautiful HeyGorJess! I reconnected with old friends/mentors — hey Talia, hey Ty! I also made new ones. Simply beautiful people. In all that busyness, I had the pleasure to attend a few shows, too.
Participating in the hustle and bustle of fashion week in a different form was such invigorating feeling and I will forever be grateful for the experience!
