Do you guys remember when social media went crazy trying to figure out if that “the dress” was white and gold or blue and black? I went through the same thing while wearing this dress. Is it a red dress or is it orange? To me, it’s clearly red…just with an orange tint lol.
Perception is everything, they say. In this case, I must agree. Since we’re talking all about love this month on Adorned in Armor (be sure to catch up on this post and this one, too), I find it a must to discuss how we walk in love.
How do we carry ourselves? What do our actions say about us? Can people see our hearts?
I’m not saying to be an open book. I definitely am not. I’m not saying you should care about how people see you either, no…at least not like that. Everyone will have “haters” and most of us are misunderstood. I get that, trust me. However, I am saying as believers, it’s imperative that people see Christ in us. God is love, so if we claim He lives in us, we have to radiate love.
1 John 4:8 NIV
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Ask yourself: do people see love when they look at me?
We can’t claim to be Christian if we don’t represent Christ. That’s the essence of being a Christian (Christ-follower)! The way we carry ourselves as believers matters because we walking testaments to who He is. And if we love God, we’d want others to get to know Him for themselves too, yes?
It’s not just about what people see, but what they feel when they see us. A blind man should be able to feel that love.
Perception is subjective but one thing all should be able to see is the way we walk in love. Ephesians 5:2 says we are to walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.
White dress, blue dress? Red dress, orange dress? Christian or nah?
