Vibes — It’s the era we are living in. Want what is good and cut off all of the bad. Sounds like a good philosophy to me — we need supportive people around us.

Unfortunately, it’s quite possible that the star you thought you saw was actually an airplane. You see this aura and believe it’s filled with good and end up being misled. Sometimes, the people that shine so bright blind us from even considering the thought that they may be artificial.

Good Vibes/Bad Vibes vs Spiritual Discernment

While some see vibes, the Holy Spirit shows what’s real. When so focused on the “vibe,” one can miss obvious character flaws. Like, how “positivity” doesn’t dismiss one from being a false prophet. Let’s look deeper; it’s not time to be naive to intentions and true colors.

All that glitters isn’t gold, right?

Everyone smiling and laughing with you isn’t always genuinely cheering you on. Not every intent is good. People have their own agendas. So, who is in your circle? Who do you look up to? Social media provides many idealistic views, so we must be able to sort through the fluff and see people for who they really are.

Now, the only way to achieve this is through being honest with ourselves. There are times where I find myself in a situation where the only one to blame is myself. Sometimes, we sign up for the negativity that enters our lives. Whether it’s bad company or setting high expectations, the “vibes” were in the air way from the start. In the end, you play yourself.

When trying to develop your circle or discover people you aspire after, I’ve developed 3 sure ways to be honest with yourself:

Recognize false sense of security. Are they open with you? Can you trust them? Do they “expose” other people’s secrets? What flows from their heart? Who do they serve?

Don’t give the words of others more authority than your own. When you need advice, who do you turn to? Find confidence to make choices on your own instead of methods of your friends. They don’t have all the answers, Sway.

Pray for discernment. There’s more than what the eye can see. We need to look beyond the vibes and choose what light we want for ourselves.

Hopefully, it’s the Light.

If you don’t see beams of love, sincerity, respect, selflessness, encouragement, and accountability (i.e. the Fruits of the Spirit), do expect to end up with low-key haters who stifle your growth. Discern in your circle, discern out. Know, so nothing affects your glow.
