When was the last time you were happy? And I mean the genuinely happy-cheesing-nobody-can-bring-you-down-happy?
I would love it if you said that you are pretty much all the time. But in actuality, that’s far from the truth for many people. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, depression is one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the United States. Anxiety is closely linked, as well.
I met a good friend of mine, Morgan Daniels, through
Instagram about a year ago. I was so drawn to her radiant smile and heart after God — she was also the sweetest person! Still is.
Recently, Morgan was bold enough to publicly reveal that she was diagnosed with depression at age 15.
Despite all that she has been through, she still has
joy — a peace that lasts underneath it all. That’s why she took action and created The JoyDay Movement. She primarily uses
insta to assist everyone reach their own JOYday by sharing their stories and experiences. And with her new
Journey to Self Love Youtube series, she shares what she’s going through a step at a time and how she’s learning to take care of herself and challenges you to do the same!
I’m so here for the JoyDay movement, not just because Morgan’s my girl, but because mental health is a stigma we don’t touch nearly enough. Having the conversation is integral, especially because doing so can save a life. It’s surely one way to make someone’s day a little bit brighter.
Smile. Hold open the door for someone. Ask if they need your help. Simply be accommodating and considerate. Tell your friends and loved ones how much you love them and care.
When they say you don’t know what others are going through, it’s true!
I honestly didn’t know this was where I was heading with this post. But I’m glad I went there. I get inspired by the little things. This time, it actually came in the form of an accessory!
Happiness Boutique based in Germany reached out to me for a review and when I looked at their
site and came across this beauty, I couldn’t say no. I love love love this pretty necklace, especially because I could wear it as a choker. Chokers are everyone’s thing these days, including mine.
When the necklace came in the mail, I was excited to wear it. One gem fell out, but it’s all good! I’m still crazy over the rich shade of blue and how easily it glistens! This gorgeous necklace immediately put a smile on my face.
What I love most about Happiness Boutique is it’s mission to spread happiness! Hence, why I just had to talk about it. Happiness, that is.
Call me corny but I also broke out in song. “Happy” by Leona Lewis, to be exact lol.
So what if it hurts me?
So what if I break down?
So what if this world just throws me off the edge
My feet run out of ground
I gotta find my place
I wanna hear my sound
Don’t care about all the pain in front of me
Cause i’m just trying to be happy
You may not be suffering from depression — you may just be going through a rough patch in your life. Maybe it’s you’re suffering a break up, the loss of a loved one, fretting over your financial situation or school just stressing you out. Whatever it is, you’re stronger than you think!
No matter who you are or what you think you are, you deserve to be happy. In fact, you were actually made for joy.
You can feel down, but it’s important that you don’t stay and submerge yourself in that darkness. Find light. And for the sake of humanity, be one.
Its always great to find waysways/reasons to perk up. Thanks for this.
You’re welcome, Aisa! Thanks for stopping by <3
