It’s been a dream of mine to go to California. Who doesn’t want to go there, right?
I knew it was going to happen. I tried to make it work by enrolling for grad school there but that was a fail. Time went by and I decided I would plan a trip for my birthday.
Every week, I tracked Google flights for the best priced tickets — I even began to look forward to getting those notifications in my inbox. But one day, those notifications stopped. I cancelled them.
That day, I had received an email getting an opportunity to fly to LA to interview fashion icon Zac Posen. Yes, ZAC POSEN. YES, LA! And yes, every cost was covered!
Needless to say, I went and had the best time. I’m so incredibly grateful to have finally meet my sweet insta friends during my stay and most importantly, I’m grateful God takes note of my dreams and makes it happen in His own time and way!
The next morning after my arrival, I woke up early to soak it all in. It was super quiet. Everyone was at work and there I stood, on the rooftop of my hotel overlooking the city in reflection. I felt enveloped in God’s love and attention — it was a moment so soothing; I was left speechless.
He cares, y’all. That trip was such a pleasant reminder.
I think what makes it that much more special is because I didn’t pray for it. I won’t sit here and act as if I did. And that was my mistake. Oftentimes, we’re too forgetful or we’re so concerned with making things happen in our own way that we neglect to ask God for His plan.

Click To TweetIf that’s not the case, then we’re simply just discouraged. I’ve been there, girl. It’s so easy getting discouraged because you’re not seeing fruit of your labor. So you pray, but not with the fervor your dreams require. You find it difficult seeing others grow because you feel stagnant. Stuck. But you have to believe what He said will happen.

We adopt a warped view of what it means to live.
You think, maybe your dreams are too menial for God to pay attention to (they’re not). Maybe you think your dreams aren’t worth praying for (they are). Maybe you think God doesn’t want to bless you (He does)!

There is no secret formula. Truth be told, none of us deserve the amazing things God has for us. It’s all because of His grace.
The only thing we’re required to do is believe. Praise Him, even when you don’t like the process. Luke 18:1, “[You] must always pray and never lose heart.”
God will stretch your faith before the harvest comes. In other words, you’ll become a whole new person before your dream is actualized. In this process, remember that He is a good, good Father who wants to gift those who delight in Him. He satisfies our desires, hears our cries and saves us (Psalm 145:16,19).

Going to California wasn’t a big deal to me. Knowing God orchestrated it all just for me made it so.
