Hey Adorners, Medge here!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I have been overwhelmed lately. Breaking out, restless in sleep, taking on more tasks–my plan for a productive summer is now moving faster than I am. I pray for the days to last longer but they’re gone within an instant.

Last week, I found myself tense to the point that I was breaking out and running dangerously low on sleep. I kept trying to pick myself up and was too lazy to commit to it. I was stretching myself thin and just kept pulling because I was just. too. busy. Anddd that’s when I knew I had to stop and find a solution.

Reclaiming My Time & How You Can, Too:

1. Recognize when you’re doing too much

Sometimes we become “yes men” and don’t even notice it. We feel bad when we can’t handle everything and weak when we need help. We shouldn’t be carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders and picking ourselves up in the process. Ask yourself when was the last time you did something nice for yourself. If you’re still thinking, take a step back, put on a face mask and get your nails done. Make sure you know you’re appreciated. We might try to find that confirmation in others but you have to that confidence. Find center again when everything is crazy.

2. Evaluate the worth.

Maxine couldn’t have summed up my summer any better! I’m constantly thinking about reclaiming my time. Before I react, I ask myself “Is this worth it?” We get caught up so quick on things that are out of our control or only bring us headaches. Stop allowing people to take advantage of your time.  We are constantly told that time can’t be reused, that it’s priceless. So when there’s drama or heartache or overwhelming work, we either wait until we are drained or wait until the season passes without action. There’s no such thing as too late. You can decide to make something positive out of any situation. And if you do slip, claim it back.

3. Slow down.

Being in New York everyday has made me an over and done type of girl. The pace is fast and I don’t want to be left in the dust. My energy is set on making sure I do a perfect job and being self critical when it’s not up to my standards. My mind is “go!” even if my body is screaming a different messages. Listen to what your body is telling you! We may not be able to control what’s going on outside but we do have control inside. Take a step back and a seat or two. Reflect on what you want for y-o-u.

The world might be moving at a different pace, but you should never lose yourself in the process. Greater is coming and when you relax, you’re able to appreciate it all way more. I’m reclaiming my time, girl — go get yours!

Much love,

Medge <3
