First Medgina’s Musings post of the new year! I hope 2017 has been good to you so far and that your resolutions are becoming a steady reality.

However, before you run 365 miles away from 2016, take a moment to reflect on it.

Like, really think about it. I know it was rough on many but no matter how hard it was, recognize that you made it through. There was a plan so keep trusting His. It’s a decision we have make to not focus on the bad. An imperative one.

As I took the time to look back onto the past couple of months, I was embarrassed to find that my memory is horrible. Yikes. After some deep soul searching, I thought back to my summer and how I found myself, my strength and happiness and who was the Source of it.

I am completely different from the woman I was in the beginning of the year and every trial brought me closer to my actual destiny. Getting lost in the midst of doubt, division, and negativity only hinders our journeys toward the great people we are destined to be. So as a dreamer and a believer, my mind may wander but my faith does not.

I came across Isaiah 43:19 which reads: “For I am about to do something new.” (Insert goosebumps) It is constantly being revealed to me that the struggles I thought needed pixie dust really just required God’s touch.

Some like to dive into horoscopes and break down who they will be, who they will be with, when, where, how but I look to the Creator who made the infinite amount of stars we wish on. He has a plan that is uniquely and precisely mine and mine alone. No one is strong enough to take what belongs to you. Don’t waste time but walk in your purpose and relentlessly seek to find exactly who you were called to be.

2017 will be a year of all things new and I claim every blessing that comes my way even if it is in disguise.

We have to accept that we will never know everything. We have to accept that for many things, we may never understand why. But there is a star with your name on it. Keep hope and don’t forget every depth you have been brought out of. Memorize the good so when the bad comes, you know how to combat it. Keep the friends who bring you joy, let go of the ties knotting up your brain. Keep reminding yourself that you are not alone, that you will succeed because striving will defeat all losses. Every day is a lesson learned: appreciate them.

It won’t be easy but you have to train your brain to look beyond those bad moments. I’ve been changing my screensaver/homescreen everyday to show a verse from my devotional or inspiring quote. This very action of changing reminds me to keep these images even though the day has gone.

From sun up, to sundown, you might not see your star or how bright it glows, but it is there. Dreams you have long forgotten or believe were shattered can be made brand new. You don’t have to feel hope to have hope.

I hope this year motivates you to reach for the stars and conquer any storm in your way.

Much love,

Medge <3
