Oh, winter. With it’s biting wind’s creeping into the bottoms of your pants, it’s flakes raising bumps on your skin, it’s frost as a chimney when you speak, it’s ices creating a personal skating rink.

It’s mostly around the winter time where our moods tend to get worse. We start to feel, or at least we especially notice that we are feeling “blah”. It’s true stuff, guys. I read about it. We miss the good ol’ sun! But, my thing is…even with the sun is around, don’t you realize that we’re always just waiting on the next big thing to happen in our lives?

Christmas – over. New Year’s – over. What is there to look forward to now?

We’ve got Valentine’s Day for the lovers, but what about the loners? We have St. Patrick’s Day for the Irish but what about other nationalites? Ah, I joke, I joke.

What was I saying? Ah yes, we’re waiting on the next big thing to happen in our lives. I didn’t say we don’t work as we wait, but I’m saying I know too many people that are always on the hunt to fulfill their lives. They fail to realize that commotion covers up the silence of their true needs.

“I’ve got it all, but I feel so deprived
I go up, I come down and I’m emptier inside
Tell me what is this thing that I feel like I’m missing
And why can’t I let it go

There’s gotta be more to life…
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me
Cause the more that I’m…
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it’s life, but I’m sure… there’s gotta be more
Than wanting more

I’ve got the time and I’m wasting it slowly
Here in this moment I’m half way out the door
Onto the next thing, I’m searching for something that’s missing

I’m wanting more
I’m always waiting on something other than this
Why am I feelin’ like there’s something I missed…”

Your sentiments exactly, huh?! You hate going through the motions. It’s as if your life is a drawn out game and you’re just looking to make the next move. You count the days until the next party or banquet or date. But, you neglect to count your blessings – the main one being you are alive. Cliché? Maybe. But, oh so true.

It’s okay to want more, everyone. But, when will you realize that the actions you are performing are not for the audience of one? When will you see that the temporary happiness you find is all that it is? Temporary. When will you recognize that the deep, aching needs you constantly attempt to suppress, are telling you that you won’t find what you’re looking for here on earth?

You were made for more.

“What if my greatest disappointments or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy” – Laura Story

  1. nice story! I like it))

  2. I always get the doldrums around this time of year…being grateful sometimes seems hard, but so necessary – it makes us realize we already have more than we thought 🙂

This is a very nice post, although it is a bit contradictory as I’m writing reviews of makeup items to say this, but I feel like this consumerism is leaving us all empty inside, wanting for more, turning one desire into the next one, and that emptiness can never be fulfilled. So I hope for this year we all turn to our creativity and make something of ourselves and make some productive instead of just reproducing the things we bought. 🙂 I love these types of posts, will be reading you in the future!

Hahaha happens to me too! It’s like telling someone to be content with the possessions they do have as you show them what you bought from Saks the other day, smh. Consumerism really does deprive us from peace! Thanks for your feedback and your support! 🙂

You’re welcome 🙂 but nevermind the things that we do, it is good to become aware of these problems and to avoid the depression or unhappiness they lead to 🙂 blogging is a nice way of escaping them!

  5. […] I’ve spoken of this “blah” feeling before here. (I need to read it again to remind myself that just because I fall down, doesn’t mean I’m back […]
