I’ve always been sure of myself. Well, actually, it kicked in while in high school. But even when I was a super shy girl, I was matter-of-fact when I decided to speak up. You know that quote: Keep your heads, heels and standards high? Yeah, that’s totally me.
College Fashion Week NYC had a girl gushing. It was such an inviting place!
Okay, wait. Before I go into deets, let’s rewind. In case you missed the back story, I told you guys I was covering College Fashion Week here!
Back to the present. Or, past? Whatever, let’s just talk about it haha.
This fashion week has been my best fashion week experience hands down!
Earlier this month, my church youth committee and I coordinated a youth gala. Many came out (and showed out — yes, ball gowns and suits!) to enjoy our live band and DJ, devour fine dining, win prizes in our many activities, flood the photobooth and enjoy each other’s presence.
Definitely a good time!
Okay, so who’s happy that fall is around the corner? Yeah, you know this girl is.
So much so, that in collaboration with Banana Republic, I decided to share an easy transitional office wear look that you can try!
Summer — I actually hate it.
I say so every year it comes along because every year I still mean it! It’s just not for me. And if it was up to me, I seriously would consider relocating to cooler land just for these few months! People think I’m crazy but my reasons are solid (bugs, scorching heat, sweat). Who likes that?
Like, the day I shot this look, it was so hot. Thankfully, I have a nice glow in these photos but really, I think I was on the brink of glistening in perspiration lol. Shout out to my glands for holding back for the sake of these photos!
Blush. It isn’t just for beating that pretty face of yours, ladies! And it’s not just the tint your cheek takes on when embarrassed, flustered or flattered.
For such a subtle color, blush has taken over our favorite shops and maybe even our own closets in such a bold way. And, I sure don’t mind! Pink is my favorite color so any rendition of the shade makes me feel so happy inside! Isn’t it crazy how what you adorn yourself with can affect your mood? The color is such a perfect play on youth and femininity — wearing it even brings out the playfulness in me.
Here’s a quick fun fact: the physical act of blushing is universal. So, wearing blush must be, too! (No, I am not a scientist.)
Stripes have become a staple in every fashion lover’s closet.
They’re simple yet bold and incredibly easy to style. Maybe that’s why they’re my absolute favorite print. I hate cheetah, I hate leopard (or anything animal print for that matter). But stripes? I can do. They’ve become the new black, a neutral, a major wardrobe key!
Girrrrrl, it’s crazy what a vision will have you do to get to where you want to be. Let me tell you the story of how I got to this location for this shoot!
I was in the car with my friends on our way back to school and we passed by this monument-looking site in Princeton. I was so drawn to the structure, it’s etherealness and could envision myself doing a style post there for graduation. And so, I did. I had tunnel vision when it came to this location. I knew without a doubt that my shoot was happening there.
I woke up extremely early, got dressed and with my brother and Medge in tow, we headed out to the location so I could take photos there before my ceremony. I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal since the site was on the way to my school but man, was I wrong.
