I was having a great conversation with my dad yesterday — it was the kind where you figure out future plans together or try to get one another to understand future plans that one is trying to set in motion. A nice father-daughter convo where I explain how I’m aiming to “get my life.” The topic? Grad school and jobs.
Blush. It isn’t just for beating that pretty face of yours, ladies! And it’s not just the tint your cheek takes on when embarrassed, flustered or flattered.
For such a subtle color, blush has taken over our favorite shops and maybe even our own closets in such a bold way. And, I sure don’t mind! Pink is my favorite color so any rendition of the shade makes me feel so happy inside! Isn’t it crazy how what you adorn yourself with can affect your mood? The color is such a perfect play on youth and femininity — wearing it even brings out the playfulness in me.
Here’s a quick fun fact: the physical act of blushing is universal. So, wearing blush must be, too! (No, I am not a scientist.)
Stripes have become a staple in every fashion lover’s closet.
They’re simple yet bold and incredibly easy to style. Maybe that’s why they’re my absolute favorite print. I hate cheetah, I hate leopard (or anything animal print for that matter). But stripes? I can do. They’ve become the new black, a neutral, a major wardrobe key!
Waiting: I hate it. I like to know what’s next and what’s going on.
So when I began to apply for internships, my thought process wasn’t any different. I confidently applied in the beginning of April, prepared to be set for the summer. But something strange happened — unsettling even. I wasn’t getting any answers.
Calling all hair lovers! I’ve discovered the secret to irresistible curls. Well actually, it found me.
When the lovely people at Irresistible Me contacted me about doing a post in exchange for product, I knew I couldn’t say no when I caught hold of the Sapphire 8 in 1 complete curler in all it’s glory. No seriously, take a look yourself.
With the new show, Douglas Family Gold, hitting our screens soon, Oxygen orchestrated a conference call with Gabby Douglas, her mother and press this past Friday. And guess who had the pleasure of joining in and asking a few questions?
Girrrrrl, it’s crazy what a vision will have you do to get to where you want to be. Let me tell you the story of how I got to this location for this shoot!
I was in the car with my friends on our way back to school and we passed by this monument-looking site in Princeton. I was so drawn to the structure, it’s etherealness and could envision myself doing a style post there for graduation. And so, I did. I had tunnel vision when it came to this location. I knew without a doubt that my shoot was happening there.
I woke up extremely early, got dressed and with my brother and Medge in tow, we headed out to the location so I could take photos there before my ceremony. I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal since the site was on the way to my school but man, was I wrong.
Nautical, navy — whatevs! You catch my drift. Omg, get it…drift?! Banana Republic sent me this beautiful dress and blazer and I got the sailor “vibe.” I was trying to think of something creative for the title of this post (you know how I do). But got any ideas?
Wait, actually. As I wrote that initial paragraph, I just figured out what I’ll be writing about! Going with the motions. (Think waves and all that ocean deep stuff.)
Yes, yes — I’m graduating! I’m saying this to you all but I can’t quite believe it myself. The years really just happened so fast. It feels like I recently just began this blog in a COM class I had freshman (or sophomore) year. I’m seeing my friends from high school graduate college and I’m just like, “this is so surreal.” So maybe that’s part of the reason I took so long to find a graduation outfit haha. Well, that, and the fact that I had to focus on finals first. Priorities, priorities.
